Communication and Media studies

 

The objective of the programme is to train communicators (in specialisations institutional communication and journalism) whose knowledge allows them to take on jobs in the basic institutions of social communication, requiring communication.

 

English Studies

 

The objective of the training is to train professionals whose profound theoretical and practical knowledge in the field of English studies and in general social sciences allows them to exercise their profession in inter- and multidisciplinary environments both in theory and in practice. Graduates possess theoretical knowledge thorough enough to continue their studies in MA degree programmes.

 

Germanic Studies

 

The objective of the BA degree programme in Germanistics with specialisation German is to train professionals who have the competence to take on jobs requiring proficient oral and written German language skills (at least level C1 in the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages); and who possess thorough theoretical and practical knowledge in the fields of German language, literature, culture and history. These skills, competences and knowledge allow them to take on jobs involving coordinating and organising tasks in the fields of tourism, economy, press and media, culture and public administration; are able to provide basic translations and interpretations of texts; know the socio-economic and environmental position and problems of both Hungary and the target country; and are able to pass on and apply their knowledge in practice. The programme is also designed to prepare students for relevant MA degree programmes.

 

History

 

The objective of the programme is to train Bachelors of History who have an in-depth knowledge of the most important notion of history, have a thorough knowledge and a sound understanding of Hungarian and world history and the problems emerging in certain periods. Graduates have the competence and knowledge in history to translate their knowledge into practice.

 

Hungarian

 

The objective of the programme is to train professionals who have reliable knowledge about Hungarian and world literature, about the Hungarian language and the forms of language use changing both in time and in society, and have a sound understanding of basic methods to interpret linguistic and literary phenomena, and have adequate theoretical knowledge to continue their studies in MA degree programmes.

 

International Studies

 

The programme is designed to train professionals who are able to participate competently in EU-related political, cultural and economic activities and can facilitate such processes. Special emphasis is laid on developing values such as preserving the values of national identity and on facilitating the development of a conscious European citizenship.

IT librarian

 

The objective of the programme is to train IT librarians whose modern IT librarian knowledge allows them to take on jobs requiring special practical knowledge at institutions providing information and at various types of libraries. They are competent to collect, process, store and present documents and information storing devices and to organise library and information activities. They are also equipped with adequate knowledge to operate information services and to apply specialised computer-based information systems.

 

Liberal Arts

 

The objective of the programme is to train professionals who have the necessary knowledge and competence to identify factors determining and influencing culture and to analyse their impact mechanisms. The knowledge acquired in the course of their studies, graduates are able to think analytically and to analyse texts and the latest, not necessarily textual media, and to define their impact on culture.

 

Romance Studies

 

The objective of the training is to train professionals whose profound theoretical and practical knowledge in the field of Neo-Latin languages and cultures and in general social sciences allows them to exercise their profession in inter- and multidisciplinary environments both in theory and in practice. Students obtaining a degree possess theoretical knowledge thorough enough to continue their studies in MA degree programmes.

 

Slavonic Studies

 

The objective of the programme is to train professionals with a general knowledge of Slavistics, who speak one Slavic language at advanced and another Slavic language at basic level both orally and in writing. Graduates have a comprehensive understanding of Slavic culture, allowing them to exercise their profession in practice. Graduates also have theoretical knowledge thorough enough to continue their studies in MA degree programmes.
